Lockdown
And so locked down
I sit and wait, and contemplate
And learn acceptance of the things I cannot change
Enjoy the sense of now, and take it slow
For if you agitate then you will become irate
and the things that cannot be changed, still remain

Time passes by, sometimes slowly...
Sometimes speeding  past on silent wings
And I learn to use it to my ends
To fill the hours and minutes, days
With things that bring me pleasure
Music, art and leisure

A Pause in the scheme of things
That may let us spread our inner wings
And see, what was unseen before
As we ran frantically in the hamster's wheel
Chasing dreams that were not real

I Phones, money, a bigger TV
An aftertaste of mediocrity
More important are the little  things
which are now so sorely missed

To meet beneath the stars at night
To dance under electric candlelight
To Hug and kiss those whom we love
Without the need for mask or glove

Still, no end in sight, and each week begins
With  conferences of important people and important things
Where experts come from near and far
Who with their learned opinions, spar

Press Offices bright in the dark of night
Bloodhounds watching for something not right
Pounce upon it, report it as news
However miniscule it may be
Blown out of proportion on your TV

Keep the fire of fear alive
Hear them buzzing in the hive
Rumours, stories and outright lies
Of possible outcomes

And whilst this unfolds the microbes spin
Mutate and mate, reform again
And thwart the master plans of men
Meanwhile the virus does not sleep
It spreads and kills and does not weep

It sees no right and sees no wrong
In itīs Microscopic Indifference
The problems of this frantic world
Do not touch upon it

As the Atoms twist and turn, spreading through the air
The wheres and whys of needles, vaccines, Lockdowns,
Demonstrations for and against
are of no consequence to it's small existence
