Sometimes
Sometimes I close my eyes to see
And from this turmoiled world to flee
To fantasies and dreams and stories
Of ancient kings and bygone glories
Of fields so green and maids so pretty
Who laughing, pass us in the city
Of sunshine, snow and summer rains
That herald how the seasons change
Of times gone by and times to come
What I have been and what I have done
Where I have been, the yarns I spun
And times when I have come undone
Of music, art, and other things
That give my inner spirit wings
Of how the day turns into night
Of what is wrong and what is right
The world so small, the universe
The planets and moons across transverse
How Galaxies in space collide
And into black holes slowly slide
Sometimes I lay awake in bed
Thoughts tumbling round inside my head
Bursting out into the night
To become words on paper by morning light
