The Spark

Sometime between child and adulthood
We lose the spark to the pressures of life
The spark that makes us glow with an inner light
Is stifled by the everyday rites

A job, a house, a car, a wife
The accoutrements of  a normal life
The cost is high to pay the debts
And sometimes work can sow regrets

Do not grow up do not grow old
Guard this spark within your soul
With music,art and other things
For surely `Tis a precious thing

For those who are blessed to follow their heart
And from the normal paths depart
To follow the beat of their inner drum
I say to you - you have surely won
